Monaco scored three goals in the first half and went on to win 3-1 against Ajaccio at Stade Louis II on Sunday afternoon. The game was a closely contested affair with both sides creating chances but neither team could find the back of the net until the 25th minute when a long-range effort from Monaco's Amine Gouiri found its way into the top corner. Ajaccio responded well and equalized just before halftime, but Monaco came out strong in the second half and doubled their lead five minutes later through a penalty kick awarded for handball by Ajaccio defender Christophe Berra. Ajaccio continued to push forward in search of an equalizer but Monaco held firm and added another goal in the 68th minute through a header from midfielder Benjamin Mendy. With the scoreline now at 3-1, Monaco celebrated their victory with joyous celebrations and a fitting end to a hard-fought match. The win moves Monaco up to fifth place in the league table and gives them some much-needed confidence heading into the final quarter of the season. |
