Lens have continued their impressive form in Ligue 1, defeating Angers 2-0 at the Stade de la Beaujoire on Saturday afternoon. The first half was a cagey affair as both teams struggled to create clear-cut opportunities. However, it was Lens who finally broke the deadlock in the 45th minute through a goal from Openda. The forward found space down the right flank and sent in a cross which was headed home by Fofana. Angers responded well to the setback and created several chances in the second half. However, they were unable to find the back of the net and Lens held on for the win. Openda's goal was his fourth of the season and he has now become one of the standout performers for Lens this term. He is a dangerous striker who can score from anywhere on the pitch and is proving to be a real threat to opposition defences. Fofana also had a hand in the opening goal and has been one of the key players for Lens this season. He has scored six goals and provided three assists in just 13 appearances for the club. Overall, Lens' victory against Angers was a much-needed boost for their campaign. They currently sit third in the table and will be looking to build on this result as they look to secure a top-four finish. |
